Denny was the best cook in the family. He was the one who stopped fights, brought his brothers together and maintained peace in the family.  Dad assigned Denny also the duty of caring for Paul in his preschool years.  Denny dropped Paul off at Dr. Gustina's home on his way to school and picked him up on his way home.  He often had to take Paul to school with him where he spent the day at the back of the room with a coloring book.  The Sisters were helpful in helping to accommodate the situation.  When Jim, Jerry and Bob gone to service in the military, Denny was in charge of Kathleen, John and Paul, keeping them busy after school and cooking meals for everyone.

Denny became the target of Dad's wrath when Dad called one afternoon checking on everyone.  Denny reported the kids were busy cleaning house when in fact they were down the street playing.  Dad made the call from a new mobile phone in his car parked in the driveway and caught Denny in a lie.  Denny never forgave Dad for tricking him, not even when he was in his 90s

After graduation, Denny joined the USAF and was assigned to Hickman Field in Hawaii where he served as a a machine operator in the tabulation department. He also served as a disk jockey on the USAF radio channel.  Dad listened to and tape recorded many of Denny's broadcasts over his short wave radio.  After his Discharge Denny enrolled at San Jose State College and worked evenings in the IBM department at Sunsweet Growers.  Denny transferred to Stanford University for his 4th year of college where he graduated and went on to receive a Masters degree in business administration.

Denny joined Stanford Research Institute shortly after its founding serving as a consultant in the Management Systems Division and eventually being promoted to its Vice President.  Denny spent much of his career working in Scandinavia with SAS airlines, Volvo and Saab Scania and became an advisor to the patriarch of the Wallenberg family and its wide range of businesses.  Denny was knighted by the King of Sweden and inducted to the Royal Order of the North Star for his work in Scandinavia.

When Paul was at San Jose State, Denny arranged an interview that resulted in Paul being trained as a machine operator in the IBM department.  Upon graduation, Paul became the department manager and eventually replaced the tabulating machines with IBM's first business computer providing transaction processing and financial control.

SRI had become a world leader in advanced computer applications when poor management resulted in critical financial difficulties.  Dennis introduced his brother Paul to SRI management who hired him to establish financial controls throughout the company.  Thanks to drastic steps taken with Paul as controller, the threat of bankruptcy or possible sale was eliminated.  Paul was rewarded with a position on the Chairman's Advisory Board and invited to serve in SRI's consulting program where he followed in his brother's footsteps serving clients worldwide in computer technology.

Denny met Barbara Pfieffer, a secretary at Sunsweet and they were married, eventually raising 9 children in their home in Los Altos in Silicon Valley.  Like Jerry, Bob and Paul, Denny and family enjoyed a 2nd home in the Sierra mountains and Lake Tahoe.  Upon retirement,  Denny and Barbara retired in Lake Oswego, Oregon near several of their children.
